The Rakita Rakita Song is fascinating and empowering. It is in the movie Jagame Thandhiram directed by Karthik Subbaraj with actors Dhanush and Aishwarya Lekshmi. The wonderful and energetic dance by Dhanush, choreography by Baba Bhaskar (who also appears in the song), the meaningful lyrics by Vivek, wonderful music composed by Santosh Narayanan (He has given his voice with his daughter Dhee) - all of these take us towards a nice insight which anybody can grasp. The hero Dhanush, the local gangster is dancing with extraordinary dynamism and conviction. Of course he is dancing to the tunes of Santosh Narayanan. But the real fascinating thing for me is the dance of the heroine with the words of the wonderful Dhee. (2.35 in the video) The lyrics for her and the minimalist moves exhibited by the heroine (as a contrast to the vigour and victorious attitude of the hero) are magnificent. The insight I cherish and emphasise is that feminine energy allows us to turn within and examine the looping patterns made by our wounds in our daily life. The masculine energy provides us with the drive, will and strength to exit these patterns of wounding. Our wounds are caused by circumstances. But our sacred lives must be faced by an existential approach with appropriate attitude. Somehow I consider this song provides us with the same vibrations showcased by the Great M.S Subbulakshmi Amma in the immortal song “Kurai Ondrum Illai” (dialogues by Rajaji and sung in three ragas Shivaranjani, Kapi and Sindhubhairavi). MS Amma invokes the Grace of the Lord Krishna with a serene voice and contented outlook in life. Some of you may wonder at the comparison. Some may consider this comparison ludicrous and unwarranted. But the point I wish to make is that when masculine and feminine energies come together in unison, they will deliver us freedom, showing us how to live from our hearts to claim our destiny.
